Hi! I'm Kaitlyn, a student at Rice University studying Statistics and Cognitive Science. This blend perfectly captures my love for math, science, and understanding how people think. My academic and professional journey is grounded in a deep curiosity about how humans interact with technology and a passion for using data to make systems more intelligent, intuitive, and impactful.
My interest in human-centered data design was sparked in my Human Factors and Ergonomics course. It brought together cognition, statistics, and product design in a way that just clicked. I realized this was the kind of work I wanted to do: data-driven, human-focused, and designed to improve lives.
I'm especially drawn to ethical AI and responsible technology development. I believe that data, design, and emerging tech should be used as forces for good. They should improve lives, prioritize accessibility, and support human dignity in an increasingly automated world.
My technical toolkit includes Power BI, R, and growing fluency in SQL and Python. I’m not just a builder of dashboards and insights. I’m also a collaborator and leader who values psychological safety and creative problem-solving. Whether I’m visualizing behavioral trends or designing user-friendly solutions, I bring empathy and analytical rigor to everything I do.
Professionally, I’ve explored the worlds of investment strategy, quantitative trading, and business analytics through selective programs at Cambridge Associates (InvestX), Jane Street (Unboxed), and Raymond James (Career Fast Track). These experiences taught me how data can drive impact across many different industries, from financial markets to product interfaces.
As I continue shaping my career path, I’m especially interested in roles that blend artificial intelligence and policy. I’m exploring work as a data analyst, UI/UX designer, or technical consultant, with a strong interest in big tech, consulting, and fintech. A few years into my full-time career, I plan to pursue an MBA.
Outside of academics and work, I believe in balance. I go to the gym about four times a week to stay active and focused, and I love cooking as a creative outlet. Experimenting with new recipes and cuisines is one of my favorite ways to unwind and learn about different cultures.
Above all, I’m driven by curiosity, collaboration, and the belief that great design starts with understanding people. If you're working on something that blends tech, data, and human impact, I’d love to connect.
